• Increased profit potential for your hospital by not referring the patient/client out of your facility.  Many cases do not require advanced specialized care once the diagnosis is determined and continued treatment can be completed in your facility.
  • Maintaining the case in-house allows for case continuity and prevents loss of clientele to other hospitals.
  • Profit is made on the ultrasound exam without the need of advanced training or owning expensive ultrasound equipment, while having minimal impact on hospital resources.
  • For hospitals with ultrasound equipment, valuable experience is gained by getting help on challenging cases outside your comfort zone.
  • Rapid turn-around of results gives the client confidence in you, the practitioner.
  • When applicable, in-house medical consultations aid in case management, choice of therapies or further diagnostics.

"Before the mobile ultrasonographers came along, we had to send our ultrasound cases to another hospital. This often meant a delay in treatment, and sometimes losing the case to a referral hospital. Having mobile ultrasonographers that were dependable, skilled, and could often come within 24 hours helped us greatly with diagnosing and treating tough cases. The owners loved the fact that they did not have to transport their pets, and the animals could stay with the caretakers they were familiar with. Also, critically ill animals can avoid the stress of being moved. Plus, the owners have already developed a trust in their doctor, and may be reluctant to receive advice from a new doctor. At our clinic, we have found that this service makes us more likely to recommend an ultrasound, and our clients are more likely to acquiesce."
-Sari Kanfer, DVM - Dr. Domotor's Animal House, Monrovia, CA

"Dr. Henderson's work ethic is second to none. Dr. Henderson always made time available and an extra effort to see a critical patient. He allowed me to provide the best patient care, right in my own clinic, where my clients felt safe and well cared for."
-Rachel Addleman, DVM, Dip. ABVP-Feline - Houston, TX, www.AnimalFixer.com

"I am a solo practitioner dedicated to high quality medicine and surgery. As such, I have found ultrasound imperative in many cases in which a diagnosis needs to be confirmed. It has then guided us to the most appropriate treatment for the animal.  I have actually participated in ultrasound courses and worked with general practitioners who attempt to perform their own, in-house ultrasounds and echocardiograms. It is alarming how steep the learning curve is and how easy it is to make a misdiagnosis, either finding what isn't there or missing what is. The more I learned, the less I wanted to have anyone but an expert perform my in-house diagnostic ultrasound.  Because so many clients are relieved to have a non-invasive way to assist them in deciding upon the best course of treatment, this has contributed significantly to my profits. The animal, client and clinic are all better served and the diagnoses are more accurate."
- Tiffany Margolin, DVM, Dip. ABVP-Avian VOM Cert. - Animal & Bird Wellness Center, Westlake Village, CA

"The value of this type of service is substantial in that the clients have the service performed at the clinic where their pets are treated, they have follow-up with their own veterinarian, and a diagnosis is often achieved by a non-invasive procedure."
-Amy B. Worell, DVM, Dip. ABVP-Avian - All Pets Medical Center, West Hills, CA

"Clients become very receptive to ultrasound and this offers not only a new profit center for the office but the financial gains available are often not realized until one begins using ultrasound.  If healthcare practitioners seek truth, then they find data that is useful in designing effective treatment protocols.  If they do this effectively, then they become very popular for the good results they create.  Good results go hand-in-hand with expanding practice revenues.  Ultrasound is invaluable in this work as well as supporting economic health for the clinic.  Often a client will be a bit stubborn regarding doing further treatment or diagnosis and we frequently find them becoming very excited and agreeable once we finish the ultrasound examination and reveiw the findings with them.  Greater than 95% opt for fine-needle aspirates or biopsies when recommended and the vast majority will pursue further diagnosis and treatment once an ultrasound imaging result is completed."
-Richard Palmquist, DVM - Research Chair AHVMA, VIN Consultant (Alternative Medicine), Chief of Integrative Health Services - Centinela Animal Hospital, Inglewood, CA

"Our practice has used Dr. Henderson's services as a mainstay of diagnostic work-up over the years, and I can personally attest to his value in retaining cases in our hospital that would otherwise have been referred, and in getting me the information I need to make confident decisions for my patients, particularly when considering surgical intervention. I have also personally used Dr. Henderson for consultation on many difficult or complex internal medical cases where my own knowledge or background may have been lacking. His understanding of the physiology and systems of mammalian medicine and anatomy is outstanding and worth mention."
-Shawn Behrenfeld, DVM - VCA Desert Animal Hospital, Palm Springs, CA

"Having a mobile ultrasound service available has elevated the level of care that our practice can provide without having one of our veterinarians take the time and many hours of continuing education required to climb the steep learning curve to become a proficient sonographer.  The ability to offer a non-invasive diagnostic procedure such as ultrasound has helped many of our clients decide to pursure further diagnostics and thus has augmented our practice income as well as our ability to further help their pets."
-Margaret Horstmeyer, DVM, Dip. ABVP-Feline | Barbara Allard, DVM |Patty de Wet, DVM | Lin S. Vaccarello, DVM - Northside Veterinary Clinic, San Bernardio, CA

"We offer ultrasound to our clients on a daily basis because it offers a non-invasive diagnostic tool that allows us to obtain a significant amount of information, helpful in diagnosis and recommendations for further treatment. Many clients who are reluctant to proceed with surgery will consent to an ultrasound. The majority of the animals don't require sedation, and the results are immediately known. This appeals to clients. Our hospital has not pursued having our own in-house ultrasound service because of the enormity of the learning curve to become proficient."
-Richard T. Johnson, DVM - Medical Director, VCA Central Animal Hospital, Upland, CA

"The use of ultrasonography is an integral part of our diagnostic workup for many cases. It dictates the
next treatment steps for critical cases
and helps us guide veterinarians and clients to make more
informed decisions about the best care for the patients
. Having an ultrasound service has helped us in a financial manner in many ways. Often times there are cases that do not respond immediately to treatment, and an ultrasound confirmed diagnosis often assures our clients that they are making the right decisions and to continue with treatment without giving up hope too soon. Also, for some clients, the decision of pursuing chemotherapy for a pet with cancer can be an overwhelming concept. We use ultrasound as part of the screening process in making this decision. For many clients, this can give them some peace of mind that pursuing months of intense and expensive chemotherapy treatments may be the right decision."

-Srinivas Lingareddy, VMD - VCA Rancho Mirage Animal Hospital, Rancho Mirage, CA

"I have been doing rigid endoscopy for more than 12 years and have felt that I was able to get very good diagnostic information for my patients. Initially I expected the endoscope to replace ultrasound in my practice. I have found that the differences of the two modalities compliment each other, and, there are cases that a high quality scan, performed by an experienced operator, have made all the difference. Some of the cases that have benefitted the most from ultrasound have been the nonspecific anterior abdominal problems and the decompensated CHF patients. Being able to identify affected organ(s) has guided more effiective treatment. I can't justify the expense of a high quality machine when we typically only do 2-4 cases a week. However, we can get excellent images and charge slightly more than the ultrasound service and then get to continue follow-up care for our patients."

Eric Weigand, DVM - Former California Veterinary Medical Association President, Claremont Veterinary Hospital, Claremont, CA

"Our steadily-growing eight-doctor small animal hospital has its own in-house ultrasound machine, which we are learning to use.  We still, however, relied on Marty's experience, dependability, and attention to detail to help us with difficult cases on a regular basis.  Not only did his valuable medical and technical expertise add to the quality of care provided, he ultimately helped increase our practice's profitability."
-Roland Burbank DVM | Melinda Byers DVM - VCA Desert Animal Hospital, Palm Springs, CA

"His extraordinary skill has allowed our clinic to expand not only our profit but client base due to the ultrasound's ability to get a better view of organs than possible excluding histopathology and his ability to find lesions I doubt others could.  The suggested biopsies/medications and helping integrate the case has been invaluable...My resulting case recommendations have now become, if in doubt or to be sure, to do an ultrasound."
-Robert H. Anderson, DVM - AMC Hesperia Animal Hospital, Hesperia, CA

"Abdominal and cardiac ultrasound and ultrasound-guided biopsy are considered extremely valuable tools in working up our cases. In many situations, ultrasound has been the only modality to actually provide the ultimate diagnosis. Although we own our own ultrasound unit, there is no substitute for the expertise of an experienced and well-educated ultrasonologist."
-Sylvia V. Domotor, DVM - Dr. Domotor's Animal House, Monrovia, CA

"There are many clients that appreciate the convenience and value of this service. Time is at a premium for many owners and travel any distance is impossible for some. This service has allowed me to help owners make more complete decisions regarding the best treatments for their pets."
-Nancy Modglin, DVM - Holistic Options Veterinary Care, Redlands, CA

"The value of doing the Ultrasound in our practice has raised the quality of medicine in our practice. Having a second opinion from the use of Dr. Henderson's skills increases our clients' loyalty to our practice. I find that having Dr. Henderson come to our practice has increased our practice growth and gross volume. Dr. Henderson is a man of integrity. He provides recommendations that are of great help in the management of our cases. Even in our terminal cases, the validation of an ultrasound is very helpful to our clients."
-Leonard Sigdestad, DVM - Loma Linda Animal Hospital, Loma Linda, CA

"As a practitioner with limited expertise in performing ultrasound exams, I have relied for many years, including the last four with Dr. Marty Henderson, on the more advanced skills of other veterinarians. There have been many cases where ultrasound has been the only practical tool capable of helping me learn a diagnosis, and many more where it has sharpened the diagnosis and improved my ability to offer therapy."
-Robert Reed, DVM - Valley Animal Medical Center, Indio, CA

"We were able to save our clients long distance referral clinic travel and intervene surgically in a timely fashion. Our clients were thankful for our more complete capabilities, and Dr. Henderson's ultrasound was extremely instrumental in providing that level of care. Echocardiography was one of Dr. Henderson's strong points, and his clinical acumen was an additional benefit to his echo skills. He will be an asset to any practice."

Kevin Fenton, DVM - All Creatures Veterinary Clinic, La Quinta, CA

"Ultrasound is an important diagnostic tool and having it available in our small practice has enabled us to achieve a high standard of patient care plus has kept important diagnostic revenue "at home" rather than referred elsewhere. Our reputation relies on the skill, punctuality, and integrity of the service we choose for this important service. Dr. Henderson provided for our needs with excellent and meticulous work over the many years he served our area."
