Marty Henderson

Dr. Henderson grew up in the Midwest, just west of Cleveland, Ohio, and earned his veterinary degree from The Ohio State University.

After graduating in 1999, he and his wife Nicole moved to Alaska, where they spent four years practicing general veterinary medicine in Anchorage. It was there that he discovered the concept of mobile ultrasound. During his third year in practice, Dr. Henderson received one‑on‑one training with Marc Papageorges, DVM ACVR, at VDI in Portland, Oregon. This mentorship solidified his expertise in ultrasound and he began offering referral‑based diagnostic ultrasound exams for Anchorage veterinarians through a telemedicine relationship with VDI.

In 2003, he relocated to Southern California and joined VetImage, Inc., an exclusively mobile ultrasound practice serving over 300 veterinary hospitals across Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Orange counties. Since then, Dr. Henderson has performed roughly 1,600 ultrasounds per year (abdominal and echocardiograms) and accumulated 100's of  hours of ultrasound‑specific continuing education. He has also trained full‑time mobile veterinary sonographers worldwide and frequently speaks for veterinary medical associations. In 2019 Dr. Henderson was an invited speaker at the World Association of Laser Therapy (WALT) in Nice, France on the topic of photobiomodulation therapy in veterinary medicine.

SonoVet opened on August 25, 2008 and now serves approximately 350 veterinary hospitals throughout San Antonio, the Hill Country, I-35 Corridor, and Austin, Texas. SonoVet, Inc. regularly serves ~220 hospitals and more than 450 veterinarians across San Antonio, the Hill Country & Austin, Texas.

Dr. Henderson has served as an instructor for the Sound‑Eklin Academy of Veterinary Imaging as well as WAVE (We Are Veterinary Education). Through SonoVet's externship progam, he mentors fourth‑year veterinary students from across the country.

In 2019 Dr. Henderson proudly became a member of the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine Canine Chagas Collaborative, contributing to research that defines the best practices for testing, treating, and monitoring Chagas disease in dogs.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Henderson enjoys family time with his wife Nicole and their three children. His interests include church involvement, live music, solo fingerstyle acoustic guitar, travel, RV trips with the family around the USA, hiking, and Jeep adventures.
